Oven Roasted Broccoli

You’ll absolutely love this incredibly easy, healthy and delicious dish. The ingredients are just a handful and they are almost always available in your kitchen. The preparation is quite simple, straightforward and the prep time is just about 5-10 mins . The broccoli gets slightly crisper on the outside and soft/tender on the inside and it tastes just so good. A pleasant and inviting aroma fills your kitchen as the broccoli turns crisp and brown in the oven.

You can serve this as a snack, side or even as an appetizer. All of us in our family love broccoli so much that sometimes this is our main course for dinner. It is certainly an easy way to sneak this magic vegetable into your diet!

Serves 2

3 cups fresh broccoli florets (bite size)

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or minced garlic

1/2 teaspoon garam masala (optional)

1 tablespoon besan (gram flour)

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder

salt to taste

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Rinse broccoli florets thoroughly. Dry completely; make sure that there is absolutely no water on the florets. You can wrap the florets in a clean kitchen towel and keep it aside till they get dry.

In a mixing bowl, toss broccoli with the remaining ingredients, until they are evenly coated.

Transfer to a sheet pan lined with aluminum foil, place in the oven and roast until the florets are nice and brown, about 20-25 minutes. Flip the florets once or twice in between for uniform roasting on all sides. Roast for a few minutes extra if you’d like them a little charred.

Serve immediately. Tastes great as is or with a dip of your choice ; ketchup works good too!

    Hey Meera,

Whats sheet pan lined with aluminum foil. How do you place this in the oven?

    1. 7saffronstreet says:

It is a very shallow baking tray Aparna. I have actually clicked a picture of the broccoli florets in the sheet pan. I will try to include it in the post. Placing it in the oven is just keeping the pan on one of the oven racks preferably the middle one if you have multiple.
