American parfaits are layered desserts prepared with layering cream, fresh fruits, nuts, etc. alternatively in a tall, clear glass. They are distinctly different from French parfaits which are frozen desserts. The creamy layer of the parfaits can be made using ice cream, whipped cream, yogurt, cream cheese, mascarpone cheese and the list goes on.
Parfaits made with yogurt are sometimes topped with granola and served as breakfast too. 1 cup diced fresh fruits
1 cup low fat greek yogurt
4 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon sliced almonds
Toss fruit with half of the honey and set aside. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together yogurt and remaining honey. In a tall glass, layer fruit and yogurt alternatively. Refrigerate and serve cold. Just before serving, top the final fruit layer with sliced almonds and a drizzle of honey. How easy was that!
